Why Riding Mountain National Park Is The Best Place To Observe Moose In Their Natural Habitat In Manitoba, Canada.
The more I travel in Riding Mountain National Park Manitoba, Canada the more I get obsessed with this amazing National park, I started visiting the Park mainly targeting the American black bears, especially in spring because it’s one of the best places to see bear cubs in Manitoba. While targeting bear photo shoots I stumbled upon an opportunity to observe moose and amazed me how abundant the moose’s activity is in the area.
I have been to Riding Mountain National Park in all four seasons for the past five years and always come up with a moose encounter in the area. I am getting used to these encounters, and I can confidently say it’s one of the best places in Manitoba where you can observe a moose in their natural environment.
I can see why the moose encounters are abundant along Highway 10 as the road goes across the National Park up to Dauphin passing open waterholes and some open grassland, which is a perfect and favorite place for moose to hang out without getting entangled in thick vegetation. Either at dawn or dusk, a sighting is almost guaranteed in these locations across Highway 10.
Following is the list of locations where I encountered moose in Riding Mountain.
- Along Highway 10
- Highway 19
- Lake Audy Road
- While hiking on the central trail
- Moon Lake
